The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The really large comfortable warm room and a very comfortable bed. A nice bar atmosphere. The breakfast was first class.
The bar meals were not well cooked . This was offset by good service and a good choice of drinks. The beer was good and served at the correct temperature.

A very friendly place to be. Cheerful staff from the breakfast room in the morning to the bar staff late at night yet still quiet enough to do your own thing. Excellent rooms and food in general good.
A wee bit more attention to the standard of food leaving the kitchen would have made this a 10 out of 10 instead of a 9. Everything else was excellent although for some reason we missed the Saturday night entertainment in the bar and although advertised, it did not materialise either on the Sunday night.

Packed with surprises, Good and Bad
The location was excellent for exploring Donegal, with spacious, clean accommodations. I loved the warm welcome at check-in and the good breakfast options. Access to the leisure facilities was a real treat!
The evening ambiance was disrupted by noise from nearby bars. Service delays during dining were frustrating.

Tastefully decorated and well-appointed units with a view and extremely friendly staff. Incredible location on the bay, easy to get anywhere. Also - short walk to the local attractions, and a great beach at walking distance very clean.

Located very close to a lovely beach and in an area of outstanding beauty, The hotel is slightly old-fashioned but very clean, comfortable and welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful. They really made you feel at ease. The bar restaurant is open all day and serves very good pub food. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and everything actually worked perfectly in the bath/shower room.
Breakfast could have been better - more choice of cereals and fruit would have been nice.

Bar/restaurant was very convenient and had a pleasant atmosphere.
We were put into room 222. Seemed nice at the end of the corridor. There was a noise in the room. However assumed it was the extractor fan from the ensuit. Late that evening coming back we discovered it was not. There was a constant noise coming from the other side of the wall. This we later found out was from the hotel boiler. We had to move to room 203. This was above the night club, but still preferable to the boiler.

I absolutely loved the superb Irish breakfast with quality bacon and sausages! 🍳 The room was tidy, and the location near the beach was fantastic! Only downside was breakfast hours not suited for early tee-offs.

It was everything we had hoped for. Downings is so beautiful and after staying in larger/busier location during our trip we were extremely delighted to find this spot of tranquility. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel has a terrific bar/restaurant for easy dining and breakfast was enjoyed in the larger restaurant area which accommodated larger numbers - however, there were plenty of staff on hand in the morning and breakfast was served without delay and was very enjoyable. Room was lovely and the bed and linens were luxurious, especially when compared to other hotels we stayed at. All our needs were met and our only disappointment was that we were only staying for the one night. Will definintely try to include on our next trip to Donegal.
